COSRX
Seoul skincare brand founded in 2013, one of the labels that carried K-beauty into Western markets.
COSRX launched in Seoul in 2013 with an approach that ran against the prevailing grain of the beauty industry: strip the marketing back, name the active ingredient on the front of the bottle, and price it so that trying it is not a commitment.
The products that travelled
The snail mucin essence and the low-pH cleanser did more to introduce Western buyers to K-beauty than any campaign. Both became reference products — the things people recommended when someone asked where to start — and that word-of-mouth position is notoriously hard to buy.
Why K-beauty owns the convention floor
Korean beauty brands effectively wrote the modern activation playbook: sampling counters staffed by people who can explain formulation rather than recite copy, application stations where you try the product on skin, and packaging designed to be carried around a hall for six hours as advertising.
The result is a stand that behaves like a customer-acquisition channel rather than a display, and it is measured accordingly — almost every interaction ends in a scan, a follow or a code.
Ownership
COSRX now sits within the Amorepacific group, the Seoul conglomerate behind Sulwhasoo, Laneige and Innisfree, which lists it among its brands.
