The exposition at the NBMBAA annual conference is a recruiting floor. The product on sale is employment, and that changes almost everything about how a stand should be run.

What works

Send working managers, not recruiters alone. Candidates at this level can tell within a minute whether the person opposite them actually does the job being described, and the stands with practitioners on them hold conversations three times longer.

On-site interviews are the differentiator. Employers who can move a strong candidate from conversation to scheduled interview before they leave the hall consistently outperform those collecting résumés for later triage.

If you are attending

Research the exhibitor list and pick eight targets rather than walking the floor cold. Bring printed résumés despite everything being digital — handing one over ends the conversation with something physical in their hand.

Getting there

The Los Angeles Convention Center sits at 1201 South Figueroa Street, next to L.A. Live and Crypto.com Arena in South Park. The closest rail is Pico station on Metro’s A and E lines, a short walk from the West Hall entrance. Onsite parking is paid and fills early on consumer-show days; the surrounding L.A. Live structures absorb the overflow.

The venue is midway through a major expansion, so hall assignments and entrances move more than usual. Check the organiser’s floor plan the week of the show rather than relying on last year’s.
