Topps, Lorcana and Magic bring interactive collecting to D23
Trading cards and tabletop worlds move from the display case to the show floor through demos, exclusives and fan participation.
Collecting at D23 2026 will be something visitors can do together. Topps, Ravensburger and Wizards of the Coast are bringing trading cards and tabletop worlds onto the show floor through interactive experiences, exclusive products and opportunities to play.
The three programs illustrate how collecting has evolved into a live community activity. A card can still be a treasured physical object, but conventions add conversation, discovery, gameplay and the excitement of encountering a release among people who immediately understand it.
Topps Chrome Disney arrives at D23
For the first time at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Topps will create an interactive Topps Chrome Disney experience. D23 has also announced exclusive trading-card offerings for the weekend.
The Chrome format gives Disney imagery a distinctive collectible presentation, while the live environment lets Topps introduce the product through more than a display. Visitors can see how the cards look in person, understand the structure of the collection and share the discovery with other collectors.
Disney Lorcana expands the fan journey
Ravensburger’s Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game has built a community around familiar characters, original card artwork and strategic play. Its D23 presence will include an interactive trading-card-game experience as well as event products.
D23 has announced a limited-edition 2026 D23 Collection and a Winnie the Pooh – Hunny Wizard Premium Foil Playmat for purchase during the event. The activation gives experienced players and curious newcomers a shared place to engage with the game’s world.
Magic: The Gathering meets Marvel
Wizards of the Coast will make its D23 show-floor debut with an experience themed to Magic: The Gathering | MARVEL Super Heroes. The announced program includes product offerings, accessories and photo opportunities.
It is a natural meeting of two deeply knowledgeable fan communities. The design challenge is not simply to place Marvel characters on cards; it is to translate powers, relationships and storytelling into a system players already understand. A live fan event provides an ideal setting for visitors to examine those choices closely.
Why interactive collecting works
Trading-card activations create several paths into the same experience. One visitor may arrive for artwork, another for competition, another for a specific character and another because a friend is teaching them to play. That variety makes the space social without requiring every attendee to have the same level of expertise.
The strongest experiences also help people understand what they are seeing. Edition information, product names, release details and basic gameplay guidance make discovery easier and help visitors continue confidently after the event.
A practical collecting plan
Collectors should review official purchase and queue information in the Disney D23 app, confirm limits before joining a line and protect cards or prints from a long convention day. New players can make the most of demonstrations by asking for one clear starting point rather than trying to understand an entire game at once.
D23’s collecting floor will be worth watching because it brings commerce, design and community into the same moment. The product may fit in a sleeve, but the experience around it can fill a room.
