Sanrio brings character joy to the KCON dance floor
Beloved character culture meets choreography at a South Hall stage built for participation, play and shareable fan energy.
Sanrio’s characters have always invited fans to express who they are, and KCON LA 2026 gives that spirit a physical stage. KCON’s current materials announce a Sanrio Dance Stage in South Hall, placing character culture, music and movement at the center of the convention experience.
The timing feels especially lively. Sanrio has announced its first dance-and-rhythm game, Sanrio Nakayoku Me Live!, built around character-inspired music and dance. While the company has not framed the KCON stage as a presentation of that game, the broader direction shows how naturally Sanrio’s world translates into choreography, rhythm and audience participation.
Character culture becomes a shared performance
A dance stage lets visitors do more than admire a favorite character. It creates a moment to learn a move, cheer for a performer, join a challenge or simply watch a crowd turn individual fandom into collective energy. At KCON, that participatory quality fits a weekend already powered by dance practice, fan covers and performance culture.
Sanrio also brings a multigenerational visual language to the floor. Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and the wider character family can connect longtime collectors with newer fans in a space designed to be bright, friendly and instantly recognizable.
What makes the stage worth revisiting
Programming areas change throughout the day, and the best way to experience one is often to pass it more than once. A quiet morning look can help visitors understand the layout, while a scheduled activity can reveal the stage at full energy. Use KCON’s current schedule and posted participation instructions as the authority for what is happening each day.
Plan your visit
Use KCON’s live map to locate the Sanrio Dance Stage. Wear shoes that can handle a little movement, keep a camera ready, and make room for fans who want to participate. Posted schedules should be treated as the final authority for each day’s programming.
