First Time at TheFitExpo? An Attendee’s Guide to Anaheim
Two days, eleven-plus free competitions, hundreds of booths and a 9:30am start - how to plan August 29–30 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
A consumer fitness expo is not a conventional conference, but its stages, competitions and ticketed programs still reward advance planning. TheFitExpo Anaheim is a hall - Hall B of the Anaheim Convention Center - filled with brands handing out samples, stages running competitions, and a few thousand people who all train.
It runs Saturday August 29 and Sunday August 30, 2026, 9:30am to 5pm both days, at 800 W Katella Ave, Anaheim CA 92802. General admission includes spectator access to the competition programming. Competitor registrations and optional upgrades may carry separate fees.
What you are actually walking into
Two things happen at once. Around the perimeter and through the centre of the hall, hundreds of exhibitor booths sell and sample supplements, protein bars, energy drinks, electrolytes, coffee, apparel, footwear, equipment and recovery services. On stages inside the same hall, athletes compete.
The published Anaheim 2026 competition slate includes USPA Powerlifting, the NPC Muscle Contest West Coast Naturals and NPC Muscle Contest Challenge, the UAL Armwrestling Competition, the Point Boxing Sparring Circuit, Point Muay Thai, the WCO FreeStyle Games, the Ape Games, the TRX Ignite Games, the Angels Competition Bikini Fashion Show, and Fortitude Fitness - which is staging the Anaheim Half-ROX, a hybrid race running the standard zones at half distance, with solo and doubles entry. TheFitExpo advertises over 15 free live competitions across its shows.
Layered on top are the Training & Wellness Zone, its Workout & Win Stage, recovery programming and a recruitment area hosting ten Southern California law enforcement agencies and four branches of the U.S. armed services.
Tickets and upgrades
Ticket prices, premium experiences and age rules can change as the event approaches. Review the live checkout before purchase and confirm whether an upgrade requires a separate general-admission ticket. General admission covers the core expo and spectator programming; competitor entry and premium programs may be priced separately.
Building a day around the stages
The hall opens at 9:30 and closes at 5. That is seven and a half hours, and it is not as much as it sounds.
A workable structure: spend the first ninety minutes on booths, while aisles are thin and sampling staff are fresh and unhurried. Mid-morning through early afternoon is peak floor density - good for atmosphere, bad for conversations. Use it for stages. Late afternoon thins out again, which is when show specials get most negotiable and when brands would rather sell inventory than pack it.
Check the show’s schedule documents in the week before you go. Combat formats like Point Boxing and Point Muay Thai run in continuous blocks you can drop into. Bodybuilding follows a prejudging-then-finals structure across the day. Powerlifting runs by flight, so if there is a lifter you want to watch, find their flight time rather than parking for six hours.
One camera note for the NPC events: the organisers state no cameras in the auditorium, cellphones only. No video equipment, camera bags or tripods.
Sampling strategy
You will be handed a lot of things. A few habits make the day better.
Eat a real breakfast before you arrive. A floor day of protein bars, pre-workout samples and energy drinks is not a meal plan, and the sampling is far more enjoyable when it is not your primary fuel.
Bring a tote or drawstring bag. Most exhibitors hand out samples faster than you can carry them, and the venue reserves the right to screen or refuse bags, so keep it simple and soft-sided.
Pace stimulants. Between pre-workouts, energy drinks and coffee brands, it is easy to accumulate a large caffeine total without noticing. Space them out and alternate with water.
Ask for the show price before you commit. TheFitExpo flags “show specials” against a large share of its exhibitor listings, and vendors expect the question.
What to bring and wear
Train-ready clothing and shoes you can stand in for seven hours. The Training & Wellness Zone runs live workouts both days, most on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants sign an on-site waiver. TheFitExpo’s advice is direct: come dressed to work out.
Bring a refillable water bottle, a phone battery pack, and a card. Convention centre parking is cashless, and most booths run card readers.
Keep your wristband visible. TheFitExpo requires attendees and exhibitors to wear ticketed wristbands on the show floor, and anyone without one may be asked to buy a new ticket.
Service animals are permitted; emotional support animals are not.
Meeting athletes and creators
Guest appearances and photo opportunities depend on the current schedule. Check the organizer’s guest listings and the terms attached to any premium experience before relying on a specific appearance.
If there is a specific guest you want to meet, confirm the appearance in the current exhibitor directory and event schedule.
Kids and training partners
This works well as a family or partner day. Under-sevens are free, 7-to-12s are $10 at the door, and the competition stages give younger attendees something to actually watch rather than a wall of vendor tables. The one age restriction to plan around is the X-Lounge, which is 16 and over.
For a training partner, the weekend pass at $60 is the better value if you want to split the day - competitions Saturday, floor and shopping Sunday.
Getting there
Driving. The Anaheim Convention Center sits on Katella Avenue between Harbor Boulevard and West Street, a few minutes from both the I-5 and SR-57. It is the largest convention centre on the West Coast at 1.8 million square feet.
Parking. The centre’s published rates for the 2025–26 year run $25, $30 and $35 per entry across three lot tiers, and Fortitude Fitness advises attendees to budget $25–$30 or more per day. Vehicles over 19 feet pay twice the daily rate and must use designated spaces, with a 40-foot maximum. Parking is cashless - Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay - and tickets are single-entry, so plan on no in-and-out. Overnight parking is not permitted. ADA and EV charging spaces are limited and first-come in Car Park 1 and Car Park 4. Overflow options during large events include the Toy Story lot and Anaheim GardenWalk.
Rideshare. Convention centre rideshare and taxi pick-up and drop-off is handled at the Transit Plaza near Hall E and at the Convention Way entrance.
Rail. ARTIC - the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center - is at 2626 E Katella Ave, about three miles east on the same street. It serves Metrolink’s Orange County Line and Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner, with free station parking and OCTA bus connections. From ARTIC, OC Bus Route 50 runs the length of Katella seven days a week toward the resort area, and Route 43 runs Harbor Boulevard past the convention centre. Note that Anaheim Resort Transportation, the old ART hotel shuttle network, wound down operations on March 31, 2026, so check directly with your hotel about shuttle arrangements rather than assuming ART service.
Flying. John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the closest option, roughly 13 miles and about 20 minutes by car, with rental counters on the arrival level and rideshare pick-up on the upper departure level.
Staying. The Anaheim Resort district covers 1,100 acres and contains 90 hotels, many of them within walking distance of the convention centre along Katella and Harbor. For a two-day show with a 9:30am start, walking to the front door is worth paying for - it removes the parking charge, the single-entry restriction and the Saturday morning queue in one decision.
